Liberty is the most established large community in Melissa: a 535-acre master-planned neighborhood developed by Hillwood Communities that opened in 2003 and grew to roughly 1,855 homes built by a roster of well-known DFW builders. The last new-construction homes here sold in 2024, so Liberty is now essentially a resale market rather than an active build. Its draw is amenity depth and maturity that newer Melissa subdivisions can't match yet, with an elementary school inside the community and Melissa ISD serving the whole city.
